This was a great area to snowshoe and hike. On a Monday morning before Christmas there were few people out there when I started around 10ish in the morning. I did the trail A1 located here. The loop was very clearly marked with blue diamond’s on trees and the confirmed path in the snow. I went clockwise and enjoyed the frist 3/4th of the trail in solitude.

The quiet from so much snow was wonderful. A little uphill here and there and a subtle up-hill grade, but nothing difficult at all. On the downhill, which was a wonderful steepish downhill was when I started encountering people. Each one was huffing and puffing getting up the hill while I was crusing on down at a fast pace. The closer I got to the trailhead the more people there were, but they were all kinda slow hiking. It was only a couple miles for the A1 loop and there were options to make it longer. I thought about going out more, but needed to meet up and head on up to Jackson Hole for the holidays.

The other awesome thing about this trail was the variety of the trail. Open meadows, through pine tree forests, through aspen groves, winding through the trees and open spots with views. Gorgeous in the snow. Kinda curious what it would be like in the summer or fall!
